The Spire, Queenstown

Queenstown really is the heart of New Zealand, the pulse lies somewhere between the dramatic landscape, the glistening Lake Wakatipu and the sense of adventure that is forever presenting itself. Right in the core of this electric town is The Spire hotel, neatly positioned one row back. There is something undeniably spectacular about finding sanctuary amid the bustle, a haven, that is mere moments from the vibrant, cultural atmosphere that is Queenstown.

The Spire is the perfect space for a soulful and rejuvenating getaway, offering genuine and attentive service. Leave your itinerary open at the desk, and the staff will outsource a carefully curated list of every must-see New Zealand has to offer. Once you’re across the itinerary, sit back and relax, and enjoy not thinking of a single thing. An hour from The Spire is the incredible town of Glenorchy, a place you can horse ride against an idyllic mountain backdrop or take a helicopter flight, landing atop breathtaking glaciers.

The Spire takes a modern approach to luxury; think heavenly linen bedding contrasted against a vibrant-red headboard. A stone-clad fireplace nestled atop plush cream carpets. The bathroom is clean and elegant offering a selection of L’Occitane toiletries (which utilise the finest organic botanical ingredients). Each room has a private deck, perfect for soaking up the toasty afternoon sunlight.

If you’re looking for a wholly hassle-free experience, you won’t even need to leave the hotel to enjoy a decedent feast. No5 Church Lane, the in-house restaurant offers locally sourced produce, prepared with a Mediterranean twist. We recommend the minestrone soup, the perfect soul-warming dish, paired with a choice from the wine list, which features selection of wine hand-picked within Otago and a number of international bottles.

Interestingly, The Spire is the sister hotel to Eichardt’s, one of the more renowned hotels in Queenstown. This link means you are welcome to enjoy an inclusive breakfast at either No5 Church Lane, or take a waterfront seat at Eichardt’s Bar. We recommend trying the locally sourced smoked salmon, along side your poached eggs. Eichardt’s are also responsible for The Grille, a restaurant situated on the main boulevard. The restaurant has become quite the destination, featuring uninterrupted views over Lake Wakatipu. The restaurant creates the mood of a French Brassiere, paired with a sophisticated interior. If it is your first visit, the ‘Legendary Seafood Chowder’ and ‘Butterflied Cardona Merino Lamb Shoulder’ are non-negotiable.

If you are the type who wants it all, location, contemporary interiors and warm service – The Spire might just be right for you.
